Atheism is also a religion
Dear Friends,
Dr Javed Jamil talks like a real
moralist. From his list of wars in the last 150
years, let's just handpick a few to see if there
is any truth in his claim that atheism (which is
a religion, in case he didn't know!) is a
bigger killer than his own religion that must to
be defended, as he says, "with a counterattack."
His suggested clarion call is:
Islam hatrey mein he!
I think he should revert back to
the Internet to clip some more numbers, so that
he can tell us how many atheists were around in
the
1860-65 American civil war that killed 360,000;
or during the 1886-1908 Belgium-Congo Free State
that claimed more than 3 million lives; or the
1915 pogrom in which the Ottoman Empire (Ottoman
refers to the Caliph Usman) slaughtered 1.2
million Armenians; or the First World War in
which an estimated 8 million lives were lost
(due to atheism?); or, nearer home, the 1947
madness called the Partition that claimed more
than a million lives and caused the biggest
upheaval of human transmigration in recorded
history; or the number of atheists in the
Arab-Israeli wars that have been an ongoing part
of life in the Middle East for as long as one
can remember; or the Kashmir civil war; or the
1961-2003 infighting between the downtrodden
Kurds and so-called Iraqis; or the
India-Pakistan wars and skirmishes over Kashmir
which are still ongoing; or the 1971 civil war
in Bangladesh during which Pakistani soldiers
raped thousands of Bengali mothers and
daughters.
Perhaps he can also tell us, again by cribbing
from the Internet, how many atheists are there
in Indonesia; or in the Philippines; in
Ethiopia; and in Lebanon. The list could be
extended to cover the globe, but let me not
labour home the point too much.
