Dear
Dr. Jamil,
There was
really no need to go through the hoops (your
post 78) to make a case for photon rest mass. We
are well aware of what you have presented. I
know, Mr. Dale did not explain when he wrote
zero mass for the photon. That is what the
physicists say in practice. But as you may have
noticed, I have briefly provided the relevant
explanation for it in my post 79.
If you come
to think about it, it is perhaps that miniscule
mass associated with the photon, that poses an
upper limit of the light speed of 2.99 x 10^8
m/s. (after applying Lorentz Transformation).
Nature has
designed the system to run within certain
limits, without breaking its own physical laws
and yet providing enough challenge for all of us
to scratch our heads and appreciate its beauty.
Some food for
thought: millions of watts of power is unable to
move the elementary particles at speed more than
about 99.9% of the speed of light. But a 1.5
volt battery providing a mere 30 milli watt
power can drive the photons at the speed of
light (in simple language, turns on a tiny lamp
or an LED to provide light).
Regards,
Javed I.
