Many people think they are so
smart, just because they are on this forum of
the "intelligentsia", that they just state
their opinions as if it were the truth. They
may even have reasoned and analyzed, but not
properly. There are many research techniques
but to truly get the right understanding one
has to use MECE (mutually
exclusive and collectively exhaustive) to
take in the whole picture. I suspect most
scientists are not trained to do that well,
since it is more of a business thing they
teach us in b-school (McKenzie and Company,
the worlds premier consulting firm extensively
uses MECE), but the really brilliant ones like
Einstein had the capacity to do it well.
If you look at the reason
why we were created and are here, as explained
in my speech to Foth (Relevance of Quran in
21st century) you will see the MECE approach.
That is why it answers all the questions
including why the universe is so big, and why
we are the only creatures with freedom of
choice and rational thinking.
Very simply look at the
big picture, and look at the entire picture
and make sure non of the details get missed.
I learned something from
my two kids who just finished med school. Our
ears keep on growing while other organs of the
body stop growing. The subtle lesson we learn
is to keep listening, even when we can
decipher nonsense. Listening to someone's
nonsense gives us insight into how they think,
and we might pickup something valuable in
there as well.
