His name is Dr. Robin Collins, he has a degree
from Texas State in Physics (at least he
claims that). Sorry I got it mixed up with
another scientist who is at Cambridge.
However, I am trying to find out what the
basis of his information is. It does not
matter even if he does not have a Physics
degree, it is the merits of the argument that
are to be looked at. Hopefully he will be
able to present that and it can be verified or
disproved.
People do not read verses the same way. Yet
the Quran says it is a clear book. Quran also
gives a method of understanding it clearly by
following a three step process given in 3:7,
4:82 and 5:101, a process very few know and
even fewer follow. If you quote which verse
you do not read the same way, we can go in
more details. I am not an advocate of
everyone taking their own understanding and
then disputing with each other over their
meaning - it is disruptive and not progressive
and I am sure you will agree. We must use the
Quran to explain the Quran.
What I definitely do not agree is when you say
"And as for God destroying the Universe if he
appeared in it, that would seem to be limiting
what he can do.".
By saying that God can enter our
universe would be limiting HIM. The universe
compared to God is a speck, and it is an
insult to say HE could be fitted into a speck
that HE created. God is beyond our
imagination, and we can imagine the universe.
God cannot come into our universe - it is okay
to place a lower limit to say 'God is greater
than'. Some people trip over the word 'cannot'
because they say it implies weakness or
inability. In this case, 'cannot' can
correctly be applied to God to describe HIS
majesty.
The Quran says that when God comes our
universe will be destroyed.
If you do not believe Quran that is okay, but
then we should not be discussing Quran.
If you do not agree on 74:31, present your
understanding. I have looked at it carefully,
and their is no other sensible way to read
that verse. Surely you do not think that
there are 19 angels of hell, because that has
absolutely nothing to do with the 5 reasons
that follow.
If you read my FOTH speech, I give the Quran
based reasons why we cannot see God because
our souls are imprisoned in our bodies in this
three dimensional world.
>Surely a God that wanted
his existence to be
proved could come up with a convincing
demonstration that didn't involve destroying
everything.<
The idea is not for God
to convince everyone - that is why HE gave us
free choice. Then idea is for us to use our
brains and free will to realize that God
exists. However many people, when presented
with indisputable proof, deny it for several
reasons like ego, bias, past baggage they
cannot get rid of, not wanting to change their
lifestyle etc.
