The root of injustice
A number of articles have recently been posted on FOTH
regarding terrorism, liberalism and jihadism.
There seem to be as many views as there are columnists. The central point
that seems to have been overlooked is the ' effect', and the compounding of
it, starting from the ' cause', and the reason that breeds its visible
outcome. It is all very well to criticize (say) Tariq Ali or anyone who
tends to hold a certain view, perhaps different from the norm, yet, what
remains to be seen is their original impulse to view the events as they see
them.
A trend setting case for the origination and
perpetuation of injustice is the usurpation of the rights of the
Palestinians by the Zionists. It
will always remain a thorn in the conscience of humanity and be referred to
as the starting point of contention and dissent, as long as it is not
finally acknowledged and redressed. This milestone event has been, either
consciously or unconsciously, impinged on the memory of the humanity at
large, and is a glaring example of the incompetence or unwillingness of the
power structure of the world. It has become a reference point in the annals
of devious diplomatic maneuverings and usurpation of rights of others,
cleverly enrobing in the garb of decency and cool diplomacy, and presenting
an image of an innocent sufferer to the world.
Injustices meted
out to Kurds, Chechnians, and others will only be
more ripe for perpetuation and multiplication, finding support all along, from
the 'mother case of the Palestinians and the Jews'. The power brokers of
the world have learnt new techniques of manuvere
and distract from ' the case' of the
