Dear Akbar Sahib,
In your post #105, I find a few
hair rising statements for which I need your help for further
clarification. In this post you have stated:
“As we all know that religions
were designed for a certain time and space therefore giving any faith a
right to rule the future is wrong”.
and
“………. logic and enlightenment
rules our lives how sensible is the claim that everything written in the
Koran and said by Muhammad still to be valid now”?
From the above statements,
several questions come to mind, the answers to which I hope you will be
able to provide.
Were the religions introduced
with pre-determined time limitations after which they were no longer
expected to be followed (as we have food packages marked with a date after
which food is not fit for consumption).
Also, which religion was meant for which geographical area? Should
Islam be considered for Arabian region only?
Furthermore, you appear to claim
that logic and enlightenment now rules our lives. Would I be correct in
assuming that in your opinion these attributes are missing in Quran hence,
it is no longer valid today? Would you care to cite examples to elaborate
your assertions.
The Quran was revealed in the 7th
century, by what date, do you think, it should have been discarded? Was the
book introduced with instructions specifying the time period of its
validity? In the absence of such a date, how do we decide when to start
ignoring it?
Finally, does Quran stop you from
having democracy? Please, briefly describe for my benefit, what do you
understand by democracy?
Regards,
Javed I. Chaudry
