ALL SECULAR PAKISTANIS NEED TO UNITE

Family of the Heart - DIALOGUE & DISCUSSIONS

EVOLUTION...EDUCATION AND HUMAN RIGHTS

Dear Ahsan, The more I read your letters, the more I would like to meet you in person and share a cup of tea or lassi or wine, whichever drink is your favorite.

Using allegorical or metaphorical language is more of being a poet than playing God. I am fascinated with creative writings as they stimulate the imagination but they can also cause confusion in communication. It is sad when people make literal interpretations of scriptures. I feel scriptures need to be read as part of folklore than books of science or make constitutions out of them.

As a Secular Humanist I study scriptures as part of mythology and wisdom literature while my religious friends want to make laws in Pakistan based on Quran.

I am hoping that in the seminar the speakers will address the theory as well as the practice, the ideas as well as the actions, the dream as well as steps how to make that dream a reality.

It is a slow process and I know our scholar friend Rashid Mughal is frustrated and disappointed and disillusioned but I prefer to remain optimistic and light a candle of hope rather than complain about the long night of darkness,

I believe more in peaceful evolution that takes generations and i feel sad when I read that Pakistan has 15 % literacy rate and 30% human rights rating while a small country like Cuba has 90 % literacy rate and Canada has 90% human rights ratings.

sincerely

sohail
