Men and steel are useless . . .
Dear Anis, Peter, and Family of the Heart:
It is a sad
commentary that, from time to time, some new people are attracted to this
Family of the Heart while some, for reasons of wounded self-pride or
whatever, openly announce their departure on a
sour note.
I remember how
FOTH came about, thanks in large measure to the efforts of two persevering
souls. Several years ago, I spent an enjoyable evening with Khalid Sohail
and Pervaiz Salahuddin as we dined in a fine
restaurant and shared our ideas concerning an open forum where everyone
would be free to express their views.
I would have
loved to know where Peter Joyce was coming from and where he was going now.
It is also my misfortune that I had barely got to know Anis Zuberi and now he, too, is promising to leave us.
Theology and
Psychiatry share a common philosophy when they preach the doctrine of
Letting Go. It is a powerful demonstration of what every Religion teaches:
namely, to Forgive and Forget so we can move on.
Someone once
said, "Men and steel are useless if they lose their temper."
I cannot say
any more.
