After reading Jawaid
Chaudhry commentary, I re-read all the speeches and could
not figure out why JC says the speakers were off topic. Perhaps he was
talking about Arif Raza and Dr. Amjad,
whose speeches are missing, but both Tarek Fatah and Hamid Bashani addressed the
topic while Khalid Sohail set
the tempo.
How can we discuss imperialism without
discussing Mark Twain or what he had to say on the subject? I also could not
understand his objection to Tarek Fatah talking about Pervez Hoodbhoy and
Tariq Ali. The two were featured in the masthead of the FOTH
page dedicated to this seminar.
Tarek's speech reveals a deep understanding of the flaw in leftists
backing Islamists and his reference to Lenin's warnings about
"mullahs" was something I didn't know about. I didn't know Franz
Fanon was Algerian either, so thank you for sharing the text of Tarek Fatah's speech.
What did Arif Raza
say and who was it who defended suicide bombings?
