Enlightenment and all that
Dear Family of the Heart & Friends,
Let us reflect on Dr
Khalid
Sohail's questions to Dr Abrar Hasan
concerning enlightenment and its impact on one's
philosophy of life.
Sohail asked Abrar if he had
attained enlightenment, and, if so, to
share with us how his new values and
lifestyle are viewed by friends and
relatives still clinging to their religious
beliefs.
Sohail's questions – “What is
your philosophical position
now
about Religion, Scriptures, Prophets and Life
after Death? What are your views about Time? Do
you think human mind can capture the bigger
Truth? Do you still believe in God?
If not, what do you think of the billions who
do? Do you consider yourself an atheist,
humanist, agnostic or free thinker? And,
finally, What do you think of religious
fundamentalists?” – presuppose that Abrar is
truly enlightened in these matters.
Abrar might well be more
enlightened than the rest of us put together;
however, based on his answers and responses in
all his posts so far, I haven't glimpsed that
enlightenment to illumine our minds. He appears
to be struggling, like most of us, to find
meaning in life.
What is this thing we call
enlightenment?
