Your point about wasting money on military
misadventures like Kargil and Siachen Glacier is
very profound, and although probably not
something the military establishment in Pakistan
wants to hear, still a very important point.
How can the nation advance when it refuses to
invest in its own future?
Something
must fill that gap, and unfortunately it looks
like Salafi teachings from the bigots of Saudi
Arabia is that something.
Greg Mortenson is a true hero. As for Pakistan
itself, it saddens me to observe that it has
failed both as an Islamic state (having waged
war against fellow Muslim Banglas in 1970-1971
leading to the irretrievable loss of East
Pakistan, and more recently having declared
against the Pashtun people under the rubric of
the :GWOT") and more fundamentally as a country
that cares for and provides for its citizens.
