Naturally some chapters of history are full of
sorrows. This pain passes through generations to
generations. To investigate these pains we need
to be impartial because the present generation
can’t be held responsible for the wrong doings
of their predecessors. These investigations give
us insight into the actual facts which gives us
lessons for future. I was born as a Pakistani
but when I grew up found that peculiar
geographical shaping of Pakistan as unrealistic.
I also gradually discovered that the basic
blunder was in the partition of India in 1947 in
the name of religion. The plight of the Biharis
is a noticeable one. From the perspective of
their plight in the then East Pakistan I can say
that they made migrated to that land but never
accepted Bengalis as their compatriots. They
identified themselves with West Pakistan and
gave active support to the successive military
juntas. During the civil war of 1971 their role
was a painful one and honestly speaking suffered
a lot due to the blunders of their leaders.
After the secession was complete Pakistan dumped
them because they became useless. The Biharis in
Pakistan on the other hand were not liked by
any. This alienation frustrated them and kept
them in the Mohajir mentality. To me Altaf
Hussain is a person of very little education.
Being a Pakistani his assertion in Delhi that
the partition of India was a blunder is a daring
one but he unknowingly uttered a truth. The
actions of 1992 were unfortunate but they have
to bear some burden for that.
