Second paragraph of the article
"The
secular terrorist sense leads to a sanctioning
of almost limitless violence against a virtually
open-ended category of targets: that is, anyone
who is not a member of the terrorists’ religion
or religious sect. This explains the rhetoric
common to ‘holy terror’ manifestos describing
persons outside the terrorists’ religious
community in dehumanizing terms as, for example,
“infidels” or “mud people.”
I am completely clueless as to what that
means...how's the targets being dubbed
"infidels" can be categorized as 'secular
terrorism'... can anyone please help me
understand it?

see the full picture are the ones who step out
of the frame." (From "The Ground Beneath Her
Feet" by Salman Rushdie) |
