In his post # 121, Mr Bashir
Rafiq has presented an article under the title of “Honour Killing”.
A quick Google search reveals that this article has been originally
published by Mr. Iftikhar Ahmad of London School of Islamics:

In case, Mr Bashir Rafiq,
advertently, has not supplied the name of the rightful author of the
article, his act becomes a
plagiat.
Under the title of “Honour
Killing”, the writer talks of all the existing or non-existing ills
in all the human societies. His aim is mainly to dilute this crime
of “Honour Killing” in Muslim societies so that it simply
disappears. To attain his aim he uses some affirmative but inept
statements such as:
“Honour
killing and female infanticide come from Pagan-Hindu-Judeo-Christian
traditions.
In fact, Islam came to abolish the dark ages of Pagan- Hindu -Judeo-
Christian traditions.”
Any inhuman act always
existed in human societies irrespective of any religion or any
philosophical thought. The Honour Killing is neither a part of Islam
nor that of Christianity or Judaism.
On the other hand, we know
that the messages of Islam were revealed in Arabic language of a
particular region to a particular Prophet of that region. Thus, the
first and the foremost objectives of Islam were to reform that Arab
society of that time. Islam did forbid Honour Killing and Female
Infanticide which were common heroic acts of pre-Islam Arabs. If
“Islam came to abolish the dark ages traditions” as it is claimed
above; it has totally failed in case of Honour Killing. This
horrible act is very much alive in all Muslim societies, no matter
what their race or national origin.
Perhaps, this lack of
effectiveness in the teachings of Islam is due to the Ayet 256 of
Surah 2 (2:256) which is very often cited by many FOTH specialists
of Islam?
