Press Release
UNO Should Cancel the Membership of India.
Washington DC: The former advisor to the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir and
chairman Kashmir Dialogue Forum prominent political thinker Dr. Maqsood
Jafri addressed an International Kashmir Conference arranged by
Kashmiri-American Council and Humanitarian Lawyers Forum in Washington DC.
US congressmen, diplomats, politicians, scholars and journalists from USA,
Pakistan, India and Kashmir participated. Dr. Jafri said that, as India had
refused to implement the UN resolutions on Kashmir, its UN membership should
be canceled. India is struggling, Dr. Maqsood Jafri said, to be the
permanent UN member while it is not implementing the UN resolution. "How
can a defiant state even remain the UN member: what is to be said to be the
UN permanent member?" questioned Dr. Maqsood Jafri. In his speech, he
maintained that any member country of UN defying the resolution of UN should
be ousted from UNO and that economic sanctions be imposed on that country.
UN becomes ineffective if a resolution passed is not implemented. The only
way, Dr. Maqsood Jafri stressed, to maintain world peace is to get the
resolutions passed implemented. The UN should pass a resolution that any
defiant country incapable of implementing the UN resolution within three
months will have to leave the UN, and all countries will have to sever the
diplomatic relations with the defiant country. India, for the last sixty-two
years has been refusing to implement the UN resolutions on Kashmir and has
let leashed the reign of state terrorism on the defenseless Kashmiris. Dr.
Maqsood Jafri postulated that the only solution of the Kashmir problem lies
in the implementation of the UN resolutions on Kashmir. Discussing out of
the box solutions, he suggested the formation of Five State Conciliatory
Council consisting of five countries: USA, China, India, Pakistan, and
Kashmir. Dr. Maqsood Jafri suggested that a committee of these five states
be formed to find an amicable solution of the Kashmir dispute.
