My Dear Aziz Sahib,
With reference to your post #70, you are never
out of turn. Whenever you decide to write,
please, by all means consider that it is indeed
your turn.
Regarding the people you have mentioned whose
activity was supported by the US and Saudi funds
and the consequence of same Pakistan is now
enduring. I totally agree with you and wish that
it had not happened and the services of those so
called
mujahedeen or the
jihadis were never used. It has
opened another dimension of internal
socio-political strife and no one knows how to
bottle this genie which was created for a
special means to an end. The end has been
reached, the goal has been achieved, the purpose
was met, the Soviets were defeated and sent home
but the consequences of the whole exercise has
left a permanent and an un-resolvable
predicament for Pakistan. I totally agree with
you. But do you realize, that you have cited the
facts, but you have not really supported Haider
Sahib’s point of view, nor did you negate mine.
This means my question remains unanswered. For
those who do not want to go back to my previous
letter, here is the question again, in different
words:
Should someone be called a
mujahid
when fighting for Afghanistan against the
Soviets but a terrorist, when fighting against
the Americans and other NATO forces while still
fighting for Afghanistan?
