The Man Who Knew The Future Of Pakistan Before Its Creation

Family of the Heart - DIALOGUE & DISCUSSIONS

My Dear Parvez Salahuddi,  Our historical  narratives of Partition have been badly distorted. I have lived through the entire episode of
this great tragedy. Not that there no warnings. Some of these were clear and prophetic. One should study it with an open mind. Some salient points of reference are :-
(1) Bengal played a major role in the reemergence of Pakistan. In fact the very major role.
(2) Suharwardy made sure that Bengal should opt for Pakistan.
(3)O other hand West Pakistan sorry was different. There was not much on which Jinnah could
depend on. Details are murky and depressing.
(4) How West Pakistan became Pakistan is a result of many maneuvers.
(5)Jinnah made mistakes as any human being should. Imposing Urdu on Bengali's was one of his major one. Unfortunately he was a dieing man and at this stage of his life Urdu speaking feudal elite had taken control of Pakistan-- later events till hid death are an indicate  of shape of things. Liaqat went to a such a length that he ordered Jinnah"s speech censored. May be he simply read out this Dacca speech as written by the government. However the issue of a blunder stands
(6) Creation of Pakistan came about by Nehru"s repudiation of earlier agreement of acceptance of cabinet mission plan.
(7) As fa as Akbar Hussain"s contention of India being one country from Khyber to Akyab" has no bearing on facts. India
was never never   been one homogeneous country.
(8)Hindus and Muslims had lived together for centuries. Conflict has roots in the colonial policies of governance. Lastly I Must emphasize that Partition was one of the greatest tragedies of centuries. Anwar
