The
article of Mr. Zafar Choudhry is highly
enlightening and praiseworthy for speaking out
the truth.
Dr. Abdus Salam no doubt brought fame as the
first Pakistani Nobel prize winner and he was no
doubt a great man and a physicist. He loved
Pakistan and wished to be buried in Pakistan. It
is a tragedy that due to extreme Mullahism in
our beloved country which had hijacked
Islam they were successful in forcing a secular
leader Bhutoo to declare the Ahmedia community
as non Muslims. These Mullahs are behaving like
our Popes to declare who is a Muslim or heretic.
This reminds us of the Spanish Inquisition in
the the Middle Ages when the bishops/priests
were all powerful to decide who is Christian or
a heretic and award punishment. Mr. Bhutoo just
for power sake decided to accept the Mullahs'
demand and he wrongly thought that the Mullahs
will be in his pocket. Actually the Mullahs were
in the forefront to remove him later. As for the
Mullahs, they are more divided on Islam with
their personal parties, groups, Tehriks and none
of them have any working paper and solutions to
change the existing secular sytem and impose the
so called Islamic Nizam which Gen. Zia already
tried but failed. Actually such religious
matters as to who is a practicing good Muslim or
a deviator or who is a non Muslim or Kafir
should be left to God Almighty and not to the
demi Gods.
Factually speaking there are also many other
Muslim deviated communities in Pakistan who can
be termed as non Muslims if a policy of
religiousity, confrontation and extremism is
followed and there will be no end to it in
terming such communities as Kafirs. That is why
Quaide Azam proclaimed in the constituent
assembly on 11th Aug, 1947 that Pakistan will
be not be a religious state and that religion
will be purely a personal matter. All the rules
and regulations of the state will be secular and
applicable to all ctizens and there will be
personal laws of all established religions and
sects to decide their religious matters like
marriage, seperation, divorce, inheritence,
etc. It may be remembered that Quaide Azam and
his associates were not
Mullahs. Further Sir Mohammed Zafrullah Khan,
the ex Foreign Minister, an Ahmedi, fought for
Kashmiris' rights in the UN and his
speech of about 6 hours was a record in the UN.
Yet he was blacklisted and had to migrate. It is
time for all right thinking Pakistanis to come
forward to make Pakistan a liberal state and
end Talibanism, Mullahism, extremism,
sectaianism, provincialism, confrontation
against minorities, racial differences,
secessionist tendencies, Un Islamic customs and
practices, Waderaism, Sirdarism, Zamindarism, Pir
and Faqir-ism, etc.
