Dear Ali, I am glad you like the
idea. I would love to read what your parents have written about Faiz. Please send them to me.
Over
the years I have been collecing books about Faiz. Some of them I photocopied. In the next few days i will make a list of all the documents i have about Faiz so that we
both know our resources and references.
I think
it will be an exciting project. Since we will be writing in English it
would also be accessable to people outside Pakistan. it
has been my wish to introduce international writers to Urdu speaking people
(that is why I translate world literature) and introduce Eastern writers to
the world. Faiz project fits into that creative
dream.
affectionately,
sohail
ps...As far as 'living in the
moment' is concerned I have a miscievious
question. How do you think a mystic's state of mind is different than
a child with a short attention span and an old woman suffering from
dementia who cannot tell what she had for breakfast as she has no choice
but to 'live in the moment' because of her declining mental health.Maybe one day i will
interview you about your mystic/marxist
philosophy and talk about attachment and lack of attachment at an
emotional, social and political levels. That is why i
said we have a lot to share other than our interest in Faiz.
