In the 21st century, on the world stage, secular
forces are fighting two wars. Half of them are fighting a religious
war against religious fundamentalism. The other half is fighting an
economic war against imperialism. At this turning point in history
secular forces have a choice to make. They can focus on their
political differences and personality conflicts and fight with each
other or they can rise above those political and personal conflicts
and work together for the common goals of their communities.
In my opinion working together is the only way to avoid creating
theocratic states in the Muslim world and being exploited by
imperialistic powers. It is the only way to keep the church and the
state, the mosque and the parliament apart and create a just and
peaceful world where all citizens, especially women, children and
minorities, will have equal rights and privileges, where people will
enjoy not only freedom of religion but also freedom from
religion. Khalid Sohail
