Alvaro Tortora

 Alvaro Tortora – was born in Italy in 1950. He immigrated to Canada in 1968 and has lived and worked in Hamilton ever since. He has been a member of the Hamilton Poetry Centre for the past 19 years. In 1995, he won “best reader” in the first annual edition of North American Competition of Italian Poetry “L’anima del Poeta” and his entry poem received an honorable mention. His book of poetry, Paradise Marshes was published in 2004. He shares his love of poetry with his daughter Kristine who also writes poetry. Arliene Botnick

Jane Story Arliene Botnick received her Honors B.A. degree from University of Toronto and her M.Ed. from OISE.  As well, she was granted the title Reform Jewish Educator from the National Association of Temple Educators.  Arliene has been Director of Education at Solel Synagogue for the past 18 years, prior to which she taught both in the public school system and as a volunteer teacher at Solel's Hebrew and Religious school.  Her present staff, continuing Solel's tradition, is entirely a vocational  parents are the teachers. more...
