Why has democracy not taken root in most Muslim countries? - FOTH SEMINAR APR. 02, 2006

        Syed I. Haider

Dear Javed Chaudry ! Salams !

I sincerely admire the way you have collectively pleaded the case of all religions in your post # 77

The greatest role that religion plays in any form of government ,Democracy or no democracy, is to provide a base for morality and unity. Take any law of any land and compare its morals with the basic morals of any religion, you will find religion a lot ahead of them.

Problem is rarely with the law but with the rulers and ruling class, who become unethical, thus nonreligious.

It is based on the morality of religion that you have come up with such a beautiful analysis of misdeeds of so called Muslim, Christian and Jewish governments, democratic and non democratic both .I love you for that.

Even in democracy, as a gratitude to popular leaders, the masses feel more comfortable to vote for their descendants. Nehru Family and Bhutto Family are two most recent examples. (You can count Bush if you like ).

Keep it up Mr. Chaudry! .

WE HAVE NO REASON TO WRITE APOLOGIES ABOUT ISLAM OF QURAN, JUST TO PLEASE SOME ATHEISTS OR MASTERS>

With best regards

Syed Iftikhar Haider

Dear  brother Rashid Moghal !

I may not agree with most of the things you have written but I appreciate and thank you for adopting a more civilized tone. We shall be going too far from the subject matter if I indulge in a luxury of tackling each and every point at this stage. However my invitation for a talk on a cup of tea is still open.. With Regards.
