Why has democracy not taken root in most Muslim countries? - FOTH SEMINAR APR. 02, 2006

I read with a lot of interest Subuhi Ansari's responses on my posting.
I am glad that she has at last found solace in her "new found" conformism. She has probably never lived in any so-called "Islamic" country and has lived either in India (which is a mixed Muslim minority secular country) or North America / Europe, which are very different, so her thoughts are either a result of her imagination, books or "remotely simulated thoughts", and do not constitute any personal experience or journey at all. My journey is 100 % my own and also, I do not read a lot of material being produced these days, just a selected few and then rely on my assessment reinforced by my very own personal experiences.

I agree that there are a lot of right wing extremists of Christian faith, who endorse all brutalities being perpetuated against poor and impoverished people, who happen to be Muslims, this time. What she is probably forgetting is that in a not too distant past even a much worst kind of genocide was done in Vietnam and don't forget Hiroshima and Nagasaki....were they all Muslims?. What about Nicaragua, Panama, Musadaq's Iran etc. etc.?....the list goes on. The next onslaught may be on some countries in Latin America, who are now veering left and are a constant threat to "big business, neo-capitalistic" interests, which are the backbone of US economy. But what does that mean to you??

If such "well read" people like Subuhi tend to mix the neo-colonialistic war (to feed the huge appetite for more and more resources) as an exercise in "Muslim bashing", then there is no hope for anyone. Neo-cons are not bashing Saudi Arabia, whose ideology, is the worst and which is actually the "Harvard school of extremist Islam", so there is no "modus standii" in her logic. "Facts" are one thing and "portrayal of facts", another. It is the responsibility of the intellectuals to be very careful in judging the facts and also what they are actually portraying. By wrong assessment of the situation, one actually does a huge disservice to humanity and actually becomes an accomplice to the wrongdoing.

My message is loud and clear..."WAR BETWEEN NEO-IMPERIALISM (FOR RESOURCES) AND RELIGIOUS EXTREMISTS (FOR INFLUENCE AND CONTROL) IS NOT OUR WAR. WE ARE ONLY CAUGHT UP IN THE CROSSFIRE. WE DISOWN AND CONDEMN BOTH"

In her response Subuhi remarks....."Muslims are a huge bunch of people and to classify them as killers and ignoramuses is to indulge in racism and essentialism because some of the statements are implying that Muslims are inherently stupid and violent"...........................who said that??. I did not. It is probably the inner voice of her "new found" conviction. What I meant was that Muslims have lost their perspective and lot of them have started to directly and indirectly romanticise terrorism and are trying to trivialize the issue by imagining that we are being singled out for victimization, simply because of our faith. Muslims are not doing "million marches" to condemn terrorism, in all shapes and forms, but are doing "million marches" to glorify what THE EXTREMISTS are doing, or what they plan to do. From Indonesia to Algeria to Bangladesh, people take out processions with huge portraits of Osama and his Jihadi (or Fasadi) CD's are hot sellers and are sold openly, by street vendors.

Just a note:If our friend Subuhi decides to land in an Islamic country and propagates that she is a sworn athiest (which she can say all the time and every time, here with no consequences whatsoever), she is dead.
