Why has democracy not taken root in most Muslim countries? - FOTH SEMINAR APR. 02, 2006

Title: "What will the Muslims contribute in the 21st Century?"

The Jews rose from the German holocaust and forced the world to respect
them, with their knowledge, not with their terror, with their work, not
their crying and yelling. Humanity owes much of the science of the 20th
century to Jewish scientists. 15 million people scattered all over the
world, united and won their rights and their power through work and
knowledge. Many many useful books in all subjects, especially science,
medicine, law, economics, management, communication and art are the fruit of
the free and creative thinking of Jews and Christians. In Islam, we are
convinced we are the righteous. Wait till the Hindus and the Chinese soon
begin contributing to human civilization at a grand scale and at high speed.
The "question" then is

"What will the Muslims contribute in the 21st Century?"

The Jews were persecuted and endured immense and perpetual hardship for
several centuries. However, we have never heard of a single Jew blow himself
up in a German restaurant before, during or after the 2nd World War. We
have never known of a single Jew destroy a church. This nation of courage,
is living proof of the valiant human spirit.

In Afghanistan three historic and unique ancient statues of Buddha were
turned into rubble more than 3 years ago leaving the world aghast at the
destruction of an invaluable treasure of human history. However, we have
not seen a single Buddhist burn down a mosque, kill a Muslim or attack an
Islamic embassy......in response.

It is obvious at the beginning of the 21st Century that Muslims are the only
ones who defend their religious beliefs by killing. It is only reasonable to ask ourselves then,

"Where does this path lead to?"
