DR. KHALID SOHAIL

"CAN WE SAY GOODBYE TO GOD?"

COMMENTS ON FAMILY OF THE HEART SEMINAR ON SEPT. 04, 2005

RELIGIOUS/ SECULAR POINTS OF VIEW

  • Dear Tahir Qazi...After reading your letter I remembered Faiz Ahmed Faiz' couplet

  • wo baat saray fasanay main jis ka zikr na tha
wo baat un ko bohut nagawaar guzri hay

  • If I have not been able to communicate my position, not only what I am saying but also what I am trying to say then I apologize. I talked to some other friends who understood and liked what I wrote.
Obviously in your case MESSAGE RECEIVED was different than MESSAGE SENT.
Our dialogue and misunderstandings and mis-communications are a good example how human beings with all the sincerity and honesty and integrity can have communication problems.
My position is that throughout history whether they were the writings of Poets, Prophets Philosophers or  Psychotics there was always room for misunderstanding as we all write and read with our own biases.
(Javed Chaudhry's Prophets are my Philosophers and my Prophets are his Poets)
But I am genuinely curious about your ideas.
I think our dialogue can go further and be more meaningful if I knew your position. Would you be kind enough to share your views, convictions and beliefs about the following?
    What is your concept of
    God
    Prophets
    Scriptures
    Religions
The importance of Scriptures and Religions in the contemporary world?
Once I know your positions and understand them then we can compare notes.
Looking forward to reading your philosophy.
    affectionately sohail
