Dear Rafi Aamer,
I appreciate your
big-heartedness. The point you have overlooked in Rasheed Nadeem’s post
(#290) is this.

I
have and can stomach lot of gobbledygook and rigmarole of all sorts but
what is difficult to stomach are inappropriate remarks that may be an
affront to our sense of civility and decency - and that sense is no better
revealed than in how we behave towards the opposite gender. That, in fact,
is the gauge with which people often measure the level of our
cultured-ness (civil-sense).
In the above remarks the writer is unable to stay
gender-neutral and belittles femininity by suggesting that the criteria
for judging or interacting with a woman are her looks. Imagine
yourself in the shoes of a woman who wishes to share her creativity with
others and hoping that she will be treated as an equal and suddenly
someone comes and make her realize that she is not.
Should I explain it further or should I leave it for the
reader to ponder on it. I think I will choose the latter because if I
explain it further I risk further hurts and if it is hard for someone to
see the inappropriateness of these remarks then I think it is harder to
offer any help in that matter anyway.
With respect and warm regards,
Mooquin Abdul Mutaal
