The idea that we live
our lives in language, and that we understand the
world differently because we speak different
languages, goes back a long way, much longer, in
fact, than all our yesterdays.
Your
argument reminds me of a popular mid-1950s book,
LANGUAGE IN ACTION, by the
Canadian professor Samuel Hayakawa, the crux of which
was converted into a contemporary catchphrase by
Marshall McLuhan as "The medium is the message."
Islam,
for those who don't understand, is its own
self-fulfilling prophecy. And all the manifestations
of offensive or defensive wars is a reflection of a
restless and agitated mind in motion.
To
this day, beginning from that first call to prayer by
Bilal, Islam has yet to demonstrate what it means by
calling itself the religion of peace.
